The 13th edition of the South Asian games was a fruitful tournament for Pakistan as we managed to bag 133 medals.
The medal breakdown is: Gold 32, Silver 41 and Bronze 60 capping off a great run for team Pakistan.
Pokhara, Nepal was the location of the 2019 South Asian games and it seemed to be a place where our Pakistan athletes thrived in.
The game where our athletes won the most medals was Karate(19 medals) followed by Taekwondo(17 medals.) Shooting too was a successful sport for Pakistan where they earned 14 medals.
All in all, the tournament was a success for Pakistan, especially when you consider the lack of funding and infrastructure within Pakistan compared to the other teams.
Post Pakistan’s successful run at the 13th South Asian games, it was announced that the next edition will in fact be held in Pakistan which is great news to us all.
The more sports in Pakistan the better, and we cannot wait to witness the next tournament!
The South Asian games are always fun and exciting. It’s great seeing all the teams from various countries mixing together, and competing at different sports.
We look forward to the next event, and with it being in Pakistan, the juices are already flowing.
