Komal is a Pakistani mountaineer. Last year, she became the second Pakistani woman to scale the Spatnik peak in Nagar Valley. Komal completed her summit on morning of 6th August 2018. Komal achieved this goal after Uzma Yousuf, who had completed the summit on August 2, 2017.

Hampshire was a successful location for Rabia Shahzad as she won a Gold medal at the Hampshire Weightlifting Championship. This came just a day after winning the Welsh Open Championship in Cardiff showing she has an impressive work rate and ability to recover fast. Rabia has the distinction of being Pakistan’s youngest and first female weightlifter to achieve a Gold medal in an international event. Just a year prior to this, as 20 year old, Rabia won a Gold medal at the Australian weight-lifting championship showing she can apply her trade successfully all around the world

Karate
Nargis bagged one Gold medal and two Silver medals at the South Asian games for Pakistan highlighting her class and talents. In 2018, she became the first medalist from Pakistan at the Asian Games Karate Championship showing she has all-round skills and is a high achiever for the nation when it comes to Karate. Nargis also won a Gold medal at the 2017 South Asian games indicating she is a consistent performer at the top level

Gujranwala’s pride and Pakistan’s pride! The Pakistani wrestler has a long list of achievements, and one of the most prominent of this achievements came when he won Gold in the 2019 World Beach Games in 2019. Similarly, Inam won Gold in the 2018 Commonwealth Gold games and in 2010. Alongside these achievements, the champion wrestler won the Beach Asian games in 2016 as well as the South Asian games in the same year. When it comes to pedigree, Inam Butt is certainly decorated in this regard! Kaleemullah is among Pakistan’s most celebrated footballers of this era. He has played leagues in several countries and earlier this year while playing for Turkey’s Igdir spor, he scored his 100th professional goal and became the first Pakistani to reach this milestone.

Ahmed is Pakistan’s fastest-emerging golfer who has been promoting Pakistan all over. He recently won Bangladesh National Championship. Last year, he won the Qatar Open golf championship after winning the leg of Faldo Challenge. Ahmad has displayed glimpse of a perfect golfer in recent events.

Squash
17 year old Abbas is one of the best emerging squash players of Pakistan. He was part of Pakistan squash team that won the Asian Junior Championship earlier. Since May 2018, Abbas has won 21 out of 29 matches he has played, which shows his good record. In last few months Abbas has won at least four gold medals for the country.

The Lahore born cricketer is the current poster-boy of Pakistan cricket. And it’s not hard to see why. At only 25 years of age, he has carried the mantle of Pakistani batting in exemplary fashion. He finished as Pakistan’s leading run scorer in the 2019 World Cup, aided by a fantastic match-winning century against New Zealand in which he brands as his ‘best innings’. The 25 year old was subsequently named in the ‘team of the World cup’ for his outstanding show at the tournament. Similarly, Babar held the record of number 1 T20 batsman throughout the year

Pakistan outclassed traditional rivals India in the finals to win the 19th Asian Junior Squash Team Championship held at Pattaya, Thailand in January 2019. Farhan Hashmi and Abbas Zeb guided Pakistan to a 2-0 win over India, as the young Green Shirts bagged the gold medal at the championship. Haris Qasim was also a member of the winning squad.

Pakistan’s Women Cricket Team, led by Bismah Maroof created history earlier this year when they defeated West Indies in the 3-match ODI series 2-1. Earlier, the duo had also won the World Team Championship for Pakistan.

Abdul Rehman, has played an important role as coach in elevating the status of Peshawar region in Pakistan domestic cricket. He has coached Peshawar region for at least 10 different titles in different formats during last few years. Rehman was also the assistant coach of Pakistan’s U19 team that played the World Cup. He’s also associated with PSL team Multan Sultans.

Tariq, a former footballer and now a coach, is considered to be the most qualified and successful coach in Pakistan football. Many describe him as " the most-qualified football official in Pakistan". After managing KRL FC for years, he joined SSGC and built a new team for them which finished third in Pakistan Premier League. As a coach, Lutfi has several wins to his title cupboard.

Lyari is known as the hub of football in Pakistan and KE took an initiative to promote this further. The KE Lyari League is a pioneering effort to provide the football-loving youth of Lyari with a positive platform to showcase their skills. Six editions of the league have provided a platform to more than 1,600 children from Lyari. Out of these 1,600 children, 38 players from the KE Lyari League have gone on to represent Pakistan at various national and international levels.

Aamir scored an unbeaten 208 off 95 balls before being retired back to pavilion and helped Pakistan post highest total of 563 runs in an ODIs World Cup of visually impaired Cricketers.

Insha is an amazing talent from Pakistan. She lost her leg during 2005 earthquake in Muzaffarabad, but that didn’t make her give up. For this amputee, “Ski” is the limit. She was also nominated to represent Pakistan in ParaWinterGames, which was Pakistan’s first ever participation in such event. Insha is surely a depiction of courage and hope.

If a sport has won most number of World and Asian titles for Pakistan, it is the game of colorful balls and cue-stick, Snooker. Mohammad Yousuf deserves all the credit for giving Snooker a life in Pakistan. He won the IBSF world snooker championship, beating Iceland’s Johannes R. Johannesson in the final in 1994. Four years later, he went to win the Asian Snooker Championship. In 2006, Yousuf won World Masters championship. Mohammad Yousuf is the most celebrated cueist of Pakistan, and many grabbed the cue stick after getting inspired by Yousuf’s achievements in the game.

Hussain Shah won a Bronze medal in 1988 Olympics in Korea, which is one of the only two individual Olympic medals for Pakistan, to date. He is one of the finest boxers from Pakistan. Hussain Shah has also won five gold medals in the South Asian Games history. He remained one of the best boxers of Asia between 1980 and 1988, which is the best prominence achieved by any Pakistani boxer

36 international Gold medals were won by Abdul Khaliq in his time. The legendary Pakistani sprinter who was born in Jand competed in the 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m relays. In addition to his 36 Gold medals, he also won 15 silver medals and 12 bronze medals for Pakistan

Wasim Akram is one of the best Cricketers this sport has ever seen. Rated as the best left-arm fast bowler of all time, Wasim Akram is every young bowler’s role model. He was also the leading wicket-taker in ODIs, with 502 wickets, until Muttiah Muralitharan surpassed him.

To pick just one player from Pakistan Hockey for a list of selected athletes from a span of 70 years is a difficult task. However, the most remarkable achievement of Pakistan Hockey was the silver medal in 1956 Melbourne Olympics and a Gold medal in 1960’s Rome Olympics. Both of these came under the skillful leadership of Hamid Hameedi, who led the team from the front and played a significant role to help Pakistan win these prestigious medals.

Also called ‘Boom Boom’ and ‘Lala’ by his fans around the world, Afridi is now a limited overs superstar who also runs his own charity called ‘Hope Not Out’.

If there is one name in Hockey that is still remembered by fans, it is of Sohail Abbas- the player who holds the record for most number of goals (348) in field hockey. He also had the most number of goals in a calendar year (60), was the fastest to reach 100 goals and scored 21 hat-tricks, of which one was a double hat-trick. Pakistan Hockey will always remember Sohail Abbas.

The Bahawalpur-born legend played in the 1970s and 1980s for Pakistan, earning various medals for the country as a player and captain of the team. PSL Final in Karachi

It was one of the best moments for cricket in Pakistan as PSL final was held in Karachi. The fans in Karachi cheered for two competing teams Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi. Over 30 thousand people singing the national anthem together, this was the highlight of the day. The final also celebrated return of top cricket to Karachi after 9 years.

In July 2018, Pakistan’s flamboyant batsman Fakhar Zaman became the first Cricketer from our country to score a double century in an ODI. Fakhar joined India's Rohit Sharma (three times), Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar as well as West Indian Chris Gayle and Kiwi Martin Guptill as the only men to have scored a double hundred in an ODI. He took just 148 balls to reach the mark, the fourth-fastest of all time behind Gayle's record of 138 balls, also against Zimbabwe.

Samiullah Khan was a Hockey player from Pakistan, who was also called ‘The Flying Horse’ because of his speed. The Bahawalpur-born legend played in the 1970s and 1980s for Pakistan, earning various medals for the country as a player and captain of the team. After retirement, he served as the manager of the team. The great player contributed to Pakistan Hockey in one way or the other.

He kept on bringing laurels to the state by raising Pakistan’s flag everywhere.Aisam ul Haq is also the recipient of several local and international awards, including President’s Award for Performance by the Government of Pakistan in 2004, the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Of The Year Award for 2002 and 2010, Triple gold medalist at first Islamic Solidarity Games, Salam Pakistan Youth Award by President of Pakistan in 2007 and runners-up for the 2003 Anne Frank Award For Moral Courage by the Anne Frank Trust, UK.

Not many female athletes in Pakistan can boast about a drama serial based on their life story. Naseem Hameed became the fastest woman in South Asia when she earned a Gold medal in 100 m in South Asian games in Dhaka. The athlete is a known name in Pakistan, and her achievements have brought a lot of honor to the country.

Muhammad Yousuf

If a sport has won most number of World and Asian titles for Pakistan, it is the game of colorful balls and cue-stick, Snooker. Mohammad Yousuf deserves all the credit for giving Snooker a life in Pakistan. He won the IBSF world snooker championship, beating Iceland’s Johannes R. Johannesson in the final in 1994. Four years later, he went to win the Asian Snooker Championship. In 2006, Yousuf won World Masters championship. Mohammad Yousuf is the most celebrated cueist of Pakistan, and many grabbed the cue stick after getting inspired by Yousuf’s achievements in the game.

Hussain Shah
Boxing
Hussain Shah won a Bronze medal in 1988 Olympics in Korea, which is one of the only two individual Olympic medals for Pakistan, to date. He is one of the finest boxers from Pakistan. Hussain Shah has also won five gold medals in the South Asian Games history. He remained one of the best boxers of Asia between 1980 and 1988, which is the best prominence achieved by any Pakistani boxer

Football
Kaleemullah is among Pakistan’s most celebrated footballers of this era. Although Pakistan’s National Team remained out of action due to administrative issues, Kaleem remained active in professional circuit and kept Pakistan flag high. He has played leagues in several countries and earlier this year while playing for Turkey’s Igdir spor, he scored his 100th professional goal and became the first Pakistani to reach this milestone.
